NHL needs creativity

Robitaille delivers some of the hearsay around alleged plans of Pittsburgh Penguins to either stay where they are or leave Pittsburgh and find themselves another home town. Towns like Kansas City, Oklahoma City and Houston have been mentioned in the general gossip speculations. The latest word is that Penguins are going nowhere.

Hold on a sec! Why not widen the scope of potential towns? How about Novosibirsk, Yakutsk or Norilsk?

More and more Russian hockey stars and wannabes are playing in NHL anyway. And what an equivalent to democracy spreading through Coke and burgers an NHL franchise could be in those towns in the middle of nowhere! Not to mention all imaginable opportunities for local businesses through McDonald’s franchising, selling Coke (or Pepsi for that matter), contraceptives and all the other familiar hockey stuff.

A little more creativity, please, NHL! 😛

  1. Can you imagine the jet lag and fatigue of these players when they do these long trips to other end of Russia mid-season? 🙂

  2. Yes, I can and that would add so much more spice to the games. 😉
