Helping the spouse

While Hillary Rodham Clinton seems to be ahead Barack Obama in the national polls, her campaign does not run very well in Iowa, which is the first state to choose delegates to the Democratic Convention in state caucuses. So she brought in her husband to appear together with her in Iowa, Washington Post writes.

I am not at all sure this is a good idea. Although president Clinton’s two presidential and all state campaigns in Arkansas showed that the Clintons master well the art of campaigning, I am far from sure that the former president would boost his wife’s chances to succeed in a state like Iowa. My guts are saying the effect could be the opposite.

Meanwhile, Barack Obama announces he has raised 31 million dollars during the second quarter for his primary campaign. That is more than senator Clinton has pulled up so far. And apparently Obama did that without much help from his spouse.

Edit: Washington Post also delivers some video footage of the joint appearence in Des Moines by president and senator Clinton (but you will have to watch a silly ad before seeing the video clip).
