The usage of toilet paper has recently been a topic of a parliamentary question in Germany, as I learned via StoiBär and RA-Blog. The federal government first stated in response to a question by the Green Party caucus that the German Defense Forces (Bundeswehr) consumed 800.000 rolls of loo paper last year. Given that the total number of soldiers and civil servants within the Bundeswehr is about 360.000, each one of them would have consumed 10 rolls of paper a day.
Holy shit! They must have had a loose stomach, one would think.
However, the government subsequently made clear that there was an error in their initial answer. It was 800.000 sheets, not rolls. Which would make an average of 8,8 sheets for a working day for each member of the personnel.
Then again, this obviously raises another question. Do the soldiers suffer of constipation during Saturdays and Sundays?
