A bunch of cowards

Only a coward hits a woman, right? Much less so a rape victim. A young woman in Saudi Arabia known as the “Qatif girl” has been sentenced to 200 lashes and six months in jail.

Say what? A rape victim is sentenced? And not only to jail but to a cruel and inhuman punishment?

You read right. As the BBC reports, the woman was travelling in a car with a male friend as their car was attacked by a bunch of bandits who raped both of them. Both rape victims have now been convicted to lashes because they are unrelated. This is why the Saudi Justice Ministry says the sentence is justified.

I say the Saudi Justice Ministry consists of a bunch of cowards. But they are not the only ones. President Bush has refused to put pressure to Saudi king Abdullah. That makes him a coward as well.

And there are more cowards to be mentioned. According to the BBC

A state department spokesman on Tuesday called the verdict “astonishing”, but said it was not its place to call for the ruling to be changed.

So the US State Department has a coward as their spokesman.

I have on one earlier occasion written about the absence of human rights in Saudi Arabia but this case is just unbelievable even in Saudi standards.

I wonder if king Abdullah is a coward as well.
