Croatia pulled off

Croatia pulled off a 1-0 win against Austria with an early penalty kick goal.

While Croatia controlled the game most of the first half, it was all Austria during the second, apart from the equalizer they so desperately needed and sought. You can not blame the team, nor coach Josef Hickersberger for failing to make an effort but the Croatian defense with goalkeeper Stipe Pletikosa as the ultimate lock was unbreakable.

Croatia’s game was tactically mature. Austria were better than I expected but unfortunately I can not predict them much success in the tournament. Their chance of the life is going to be the next game against Poland but I do not think that even winning that one would change the obvious expectation that Germany and Croatia are going to proceed from group B.

I am glad to note that this game opened my score in Thomas’s friendly pool. Extraordinarily enough I managed to predict the precise outcome.🙂 My prediction for the next game: Germany 2, Poland 1.
