Let us all starve

Mia Farrow has apparently ended her 12 day hunger strike in support of Darfur due to health concerns. 12 days without food is by definition unhealthy. The point of a hunger strike – if a hunger strike has a point at all – is to harm one’s own health in protest.

Richard Branson is reported to have “taken over” the protest. I suppose we could help him out. If everybody in the web “took over”, as it were, for one hour, the action could go on indefinetly. The people of Darfur would feel so good about everybody starving for an hour on their behalf. And nobody’s health would be damaged.

The people in Darfur would still starve and die but they would probably die happier knowing that the World wide virtual community took action for them.
