Microsoft maths: 8 > 10

Geirsan was trying to install Microsoft’s brand new Silverwind plug-in application to his Mac box. He received an error message saying that the application cannot be installed in his computer. He would need to have MacOS X 10.4.8 or higher. Geirsan has Mac OS X 10.4.10.

I guess this is maths according to Microsoft: 8 > 10.

  1. Larko!
You are my most ardent reader (What does really “ardent” mean, btw?) Sometimes I wonder if you’re the only one.
I really should get to try your Estonian beer some time.

  2. According to Merriam-Webster:

    Main Entry: ar·dent
    Pronunciation: ‘är-d&nt
    Function: adjective
Etymology: Middle English, from Middle French, from Latin ardent-, ardens, present participle of ardEre to burn, from ardor
1 : characterized by warmth of feeling typically expressed in eager zealous support or activity
    2 : FIERY, HOT
    synonym see IMPASSIONED
    – ar·dent·ly adverb

I am not sure if I would fit that description. 😉

Let us talk about the beer in private.

  3. It would be nice of you did. “Ardent” is the kind of word you find in interviews with English language authors.

Seems the problem with the installer is not with Microsoft, but with Apple. Have a look here:

  4. Besides, Apple would probably not like the idea that Mac users install Windows stuff in their machines. Maybe they did this on purpose? 😛
